Summer Update From SNS Outfitter & Guides
Clients often ask what we do during the summer months here at SNS Outfitter & Guides in Wyoming. As you can imagine, it’s a busy time of year for us. Hunting seasons are only a couple of months away and there’s a lot to do before our fall guests begin arriving.
With camps in several parts of the state, we spend a lot of time doing building maintenance and upgrades. Each year, we make an effort to improve each of our camps. This includes a great deal of painting, repairs and even new construction. If you’ve hunted with us before, you know that some of our camps are in remote locations. That means hauling in the equipment and materials needed to get the job done.
Of course we also spend a great deal of time in the office over the summer months. We answer questions from hunters as they prepare for their trip, we organize camp assignments and room assignments and make sure that hunting licenses and other paperwork are ready for the arrival of each hunter. By the time hunters arrive in camp, our goal is to be as organized and efficient as possible.
But it’s not all prep work this time of year. After our spring black bear hunts come to a close, our Jackson Hole Outfitters camp and Box Y lodge are up and running. During the summer we offer horseback riding and fishing trips out of these locations. Wyoming’s Greys river region is a spectacular location to spend a family vacation, and offers a peaceful retreat just south of Jackson.
Of course we also spend a great deal of time driving the ranches and observing the game. This year, Wyoming received a record amount of rainfall in May. The grass is tall in Wyoming this year and everything looks extremely green. Our big game herds look like they are in excellent shape, and the green summer is definitely producing healthy horn growth. It’s a beautiful summer to be outside in Wyoming, and we’re looking forward to an even better fall!
